Young Rider ( age 15 and under)
The focus of our young rider program is giving our students a fun and safe learning environment that builds confidence in the saddle and out into the world. The lessons begin with each student learning how to halter, groom and tack their lesson horse, the first building blocks to skilled horsemanship.
Not every student will continue riding through their life, but our lessons will give them great memories to last a life time! For students who do continue towards a “life equestrian” we’ll teach them a solid foundation to build their skills on.
Cost:
Private Individual Lessons: $30.00 each
Private Pre-paid block of 10 lessons: $ $250.00
Group Lessons: $25.00 each (maximum 3 riders per group)

Beginner Adult Rider to Competitive Athlete (age 16 and up)
If you’re looking to return to riding after a few years away, or have always wanted to learn we can provide a supportive introduction (or re-introduction) to riding in a relaxed atmosphere. On the other end of the scale, if you’re looking to hone your skills in the show ring, or tackle ongoing issues under saddle we can effectively coach a horse and rider’s strengths and weaknesses into a winning combination.
Whether your goal is to win in the show ring or simply trail ride confidently we will build a lesson plan to meet your needs.
Cost:
Private Individual Lessons: $ 50.00
Private Pre-paid block of 10: $400.00
Group Lessons: $35.00 (maximum 3 riders per group)

Both currently reside in Truro, Nova Scotia.
Appropriate Riding Gear
Students under the age of 18 are required to wear an approved riding helmet while mounted, and we strongly urge every client to do so. Helmets can be provided by Sandheide Farm for riding lessons, however like any other activity the right clothing is essential for both comfort and safety, students will need to provide:
- Comfortable boots with a heel
- Riding breeches or comfortable pants with no prominent inseam (leggins, track pants etc)
- Outer clothing suitable to the season, we recommend layering.
- Sunscreen for those sunny days summer or winter.
- We do not recommend students wear jewelry while they ride, particularly rings which can pinch the fingers between the reins.
TRAINING
**NEW**

We are expanding our training business, accepting up to 4 horses at a time. Please call for availability.
Outdoor and indoor boarding options available.
Training in dressage, hunter, jumper and western pleasure.

Training starts at $500 + board + GST.
All training spots are currently full.
Every year Sandheide Farm accepts a limited number of outside horses for introduction to the saddle, basic flatwork, and training in dressage.
We strive to produce horses happy and confident with their abilities, and do not believe in rushing the training as it produces confused horses and mediocre results. Horses are moved along at their own pace so that they receive a clear understanding of what they’re being asked to do, and by using positive reinforcement gain confidence in their new abilities.
If you’re interested in sending a horse to us for training please contact us so we may discuss your horse and what goals you would like to achieve in their training.
