OUR SCHOOL HORSES
"Ducky" is a 10 year old, zebra striped dun quarter horse. She was purchased in the fall of 2005 as a lesson horse and is currently be used in that role. Ducky had her first foal in May 2007. She was bred to the oldenburg stallion, Arts Aero and we were delighted with the colt that was produced. Ducky is a treasure to have here on the farm with her sweet nature and quiet disposition. And is used for all rider levels.
"Hercules" is a 24yr. old, 16'2" paint/draft cross who is kindly loaned to us by James Merrilees.   Herc or "Mo" is the horse that everyone who is learning to ride starts with.   He is know as the gentle giant who trots along in what we call the slo-mo shuffle.   Although Herc has been retired as an active jousting mount, his owner James Merrilees, still participates in renaissance faires as well as mounted archery and mounted games. Herc is worth his weight in gold!!
"Chaos". Don't be fooled by the 8 yr old, shire mare. Chaos   stands 17hh and is anything but chaotic. Her sweet and gentle disposition, with an easy going nature has made her a pleasure to train.   Chaos has now been added to the ranks of school horse by being ridden by some of my more experienced students.   Currently being trained in basic dressage she will eventually be headed to a career as a dressage and jousting horse.   Chaos was also bred to the oldenburg stallion, Arts Aero. We expect great things from her first foal, SHF Gwenievere who was purchased by Dani Madden at Nith River Ranch. We are eagerly waiting to see Gwen in the jumper ring!
"Shane" is an 23 yr. old arab gelding standing 14'3". Shane is a jack of all trades, being used from all things from hunter to endurance racing.   When Shane was purchased for the farm 6 years ago I was training him as an endurance horse with Canadian team member Dr. Yvette Vinton, DVM.
He now has added to his resume show hunter, archery horse and mounted games horse. A sweet horse with a pleasing disposition, Shane is always the reliable hack horse who never spooks and is always willing to try something new. Shane is used for the confident amateur rider. He is shown here in diplay at Casa Loma in Toronto. He and 2 other horses from the farm were the first horses to be in the stalls in over 80 years.
Hailey, a 15 year old, dutch mare has also been added to the lesson program for the advanced students looking for a horse that they can test their skills on. Hailey has competed both as a dressage horse and jumper.
"Nav" is an 14yr old, 16'1" grade gelding with a little bit of everything in him.   Nav is our spare and is graciously loaned to us by his owner Wayne Fletcher. Sometimes I over book and need an extra beginner horse. Nav is a horse that can do it all and willingly, which makes him a great addition. Nav is also busy during competition season with Wayne and can be seen at Renaissance Faires as well as commercials and the movie Prince Charming.   Nav is know as a bit of a goof with a very playful but fun personality.
